Abstract

CYTOMETRY AND RESEARCH MICROSCOPY SHARED RESOURCE PROJECT SUMMARY/ABSTRACT The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) Cytometry and Research Microscopy (CMSR) shared resource has undergone a recent change in leadership that is designed to bolster the center's capabilities, aligning with its mission to enhance its user experience. Under the shared leadership of Amar Desai and Judy Drazba, this initiative is focused around three major goals during the upcoming funding cycle: Aim 1 focuses on providing high-quality instrumentation and expert staff support. By ensuring equipment is current and well-maintained, and offering tailored training and a repository of validated protocols, the CMSR will improve research quality and efficiency. Aim 2 is dedicated to facilitating interdisciplinary collaborations within the Case CCC. By fostering partnerships and supporting the effective dissemination of research findings, the CMSR will play a pivotal role in enhancing the center's collective research impact. Aim 3 will expand service offerings in response to the evolving needs of the research community. This involves securing funding for new technology and staying updated with the latest scientific advancements, thereby ensuring the CMSR remains at the forefront of technological capabilities. The CMSR has historically played an important role in facilitating projects across diverse research areas and programs within the Case CCC, many of which have successfully secured external funding and resulted in significant publications. In the current funding cycle, 535 investigators, 38% of whom were Case CCC members, accounting for 52% of total usage, from all 6 of the Case CCC research programs used the SR. Looking forward, the CMSR anticipates a future enriched with technological innovations and robust support for the Case CCC community, emphasizing continuous improvement and a commitment to research excellence.
