** AWARDS ISSUED PRIOR TO JANUARY 20, 2025, WERE FUNDED UNDER PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS AND MAY NOT REFLECT THE PRIORITIES AND POLICIES OF THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION.** IN THIS PROJECT, OUR FOCUS IS TO DEVELOP CONTENT AND ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE YOUTH INVOLVEMENTS AND UNDERSTANDING OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN AGRICULTURE. THE SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES INCLUDE: (1) DESIGN A CUSTOMIZED HYBRID COURSE FOR DRONE FLIGHT TRAINING AND DRONE INTRODUCTION, AND (2) DESIGN TOUR AND PROJECT ACTIVITIES TO ENHANCE YOUTH'S UNDERSTANDING OF DRONES AND OTHER AI TECHNOLOGIES IN SMART AGRICULTURE.THIS PROJECT WILL RECRUIT 12 YOUTH PARTICIPANTS EACH YEAR FOR FOUR YEARS (48 YOUTH PARTICIPANTS IN TOTAL) AND ENGAGE THEM IN AN EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PROGRAM IN SMART AGRICULTURE RELATED TECHNOLOGIES SUCH AS DRONES, GROUND ROBOTS, COMPUTER VISION SYSTEMS, INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) SYSTEMS AND AGRICULTURAL DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, AND LEARN THE FOUNDATIONS AND APPLICATIONS OF THESE TECHNOLOGIES.THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF OUR TEAM IS TO ESTABLISH A SMART AGRICULTURE EDUCATION CENTER TO TRAIN THE NEXT GENERATION OF AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERS. THE PROGRAM DEVELOPED FROM THIS PROJECT WILL BE ONE OF THE THREE MAIN COMPONENTS THAT FORM THE OVERALL TRAINING AND EDUCATION PROGRAM THAT WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE SMART AGRICULTURE EDUCATION CENTER. THUS, THE BROADER IMPACT OF THIS PROJECT MAY INCLUDE: (1) IMPROVING SOCIETAL PERCEPTION OF WORKING IN AGRICULTURE; (2) ENHANCING WORKFORCE FOR FUTURE US AGRICULTURE; AND (3) IMPROVING FOOD PRODUCTION WITH MORE ADOPTIONS OF SMART AGRICULTURAL TECHNOLOGIES.
