CURRENTLY HUGE AMOUNT OF DATA IS DAILY GENERATED BY PRODUCERS, VETERINARIANS, DIAGNOSTICLABS AND RELATED STAKEHOLDERS CONTAINING INFORMATION FROM PATHOGEN AND ANIMAL GENOMICS TO FARMAND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS BUT THERE ARE NO TOOLS TO EFFECTIVELY INTEGRATE, ANALYZE AND SUMMARIZE ALLTHOSE MULTI-LEVEL DATA TO TIMELY INFORM DECISION-MAKING. OUR MULTI-INSTITUTIONAL, MULTI-DISCIPLINARY,RESEARCH-INDUSTRY COLLABORATIVE PROJECT AIMS TO FILL THIS GAP BY DEVELOPING AN INNOVATIVE,SCIENTIFICALLY-BASED, PRECISION EPIDEMIOLOGY (PEPI) TOOL BASED ON BIG DATA ANALYTICS THAT WILL ALLOWSTAKEHOLDERS THE USE OF GENOME-TO-POPULATION LEVEL DATA TO TIMELY SUPPORT ANIMAL HEALTH DECISIONS.WE WILL ILLUSTRATE THE VALUE AND VALIDATE OUR APPROACH USING DATA FROM THE SWINE INDUSTRY. THEDELIVERABLES WILL BE (1) AN OPERATIONAL, SECURELY-ACCESSIBLE, USER-FRIENDLY, PEPI TOOL AVAILABLE FOR SWINE PRODUCERS AND VETERINARIANS FOR EARLY DETECTION, REAL-TIME MONITORING, RISK ASSESSMENT ANDPREDICTION OF SWINE HEALTH PROBLEMS INTO THEIR PREMISES; (2) DESCRIPTION OF THE SPATIO-TEMPORALDYNAMICS, DISEASE PATTERNS, RISK FACTORS AND PRODUCTION IMPACTS FOR THE SELECTED SWINE DISEASES, (3)IDENTIFICATION OF THE MAIN FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO HIGH VS LOW ANTIBIOTIC USAGE, (4) EVALUATION OF THECOST-BENEFIT OF BIOSECURITY AND VACCINATION IMPLEMENTATION UNDER DIVERSE EPIDEMIOLOGICALCONDITIONS; (5) DEVELOPMENT OF TRAINING MATERIALS AND WORKSHOPS TO FACILITATE THE USE ANDINTERPRETATION OF THE PEPI TOOL. THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE A REVOLUTIONARY FRAMEWORK TO MORE COSTEFFECTIVELYPREVENT AND CONTROL SWINE (AND OTHER LIVESTOCK) DISEASES IN THE US AND GLOBALLY.
